For those that want to grow a vegetable and herb garden, consider raised garden beds! Raised beds are a great way to keep a garden organized and defined within an existing landscape. Ready-to-Grow Gardens has been installing raised garden beds all over South Florida since we started in 2010.
Raised garden beds, and nearly all edible gardens should ideally be located in a VERY sunny area (at least 6 hours of direct sunlight), close to a water source, and ideally close to the kitchen.
If you’d like help planning the location, layout and other specifics of your edible garden, we can possibly help using satellite images and pictures. However, we can also help plan your garden with an in-person consultation, which we can schedule for an additional fee. In-person consultations typically last about an hour and we discuss the potential for edible gardening in your yard.

METAL GARDEN BEDS
Lately metal garden beds have gained popularity. They are a great option and come in a wide variety of styles, sizes, configurations, heights and colors. Generally clients will purchase the metal beds online and we assemble, position, fill with soil, add organic fertilizer and plant. While there are others, the three main companies we recommend for ordering metal beds are Birdies, Vego Garden, and Vegega. Metal garden beds are easily available so the turn around time for us to install these is relatively quick.
RECLAIMED WOOD GARDEN BEDS
Our wood garden beds are built out of greenheart wood reclaimed from local dock pilings. Greenheart is durable, attractive, and unique. Planter boxes made from greenheart will last much longer than other types of wood like pine or cedar, as it is naturally resistant to rot and insect damage. Since it is reclaimed it is sustainable, not contributing to deforestation.
Our reclaimed wood raised beds are built to order and can be made in custom sizes and heights.
LIMESTONE GARDEN BEDS
The most permanent option for raised garden beds is using oolitic limestone, the native stone naturally occuring throughout South Florida.
